| Fine Original Still Life Watercolour Painting by William H Ward (fl.1850-1882). William H Ward was a Birmingham based artist. He painted mainly fruit, still lifes and genre subjects. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1850 to 1872 as well as at Suffolk Street, British Institution and various other venues. Ward exhibited in Birmingham between 1877 and 1882. He was elected a member of the Birmingham Society of Artists in 1856 and was listed in the local directory between 1858 and 1868. His address is recorded as Balsall Heath Road, Pershore Road in Birmingham. The painting features a peach, grapes and redcurrants with a mossy background. The watercolour is heightened with gum arabic. Signed to the lower left and dated 1874. Approximately 13 3/4" by 12 1/2" including the frame and 6 3/4" by 5 1/4" excluding the frame and mount. In good overall condition with nice fresh colours, there is some light flaking to the gum arabic. A very nice quality painting by a very good artist. Free UK postage.
