Herbert George Original Watercolour Painting. The picture is nicely detailed with thatched cottages, trees, colourful flowers, fields and a castle in the distance which we believe is probably Arundel Castle. Herbert George exhibited his works at the Royal Academy and other major galleries from the early 1900's to the late 1930's. The subjects of this watercolours were often cottages and rural scenes in Sussex and Surrey, he also painted parts of Europe. Dating to the early part of the twentieth century. The watercolour is signed to the bottom left. The painting is framed and glazed. The picture is 21 1/4" by 17" including the mount and frame and 14" by 10" excluding the mount and frame. The painting is in good overall condition, there is some light foxing to the odd area in the sky commensurate with the age / nature of the picture. |
